About this deal

Struggling to find a killer that is hiding in plain sight, while navigating small town politics and pagan rituals that muddy the waters, romance is blossoming between the two tortured souls, threatening to slow down the investigation. “Sycamore Gap”, the second novel in the DCI Ryan series of novels is an excellent novel about the adventures of the handsome and troubled Detective Chief Inspector Ryan. The Infirmary is a brilliant production. Tom Bateman as Ryan and Kevin Whately as Frank Phillips are perfectly cast and capture the nuances of the characters superbly. Mark Bazeley—the killer, Bertie Carvel—the killer’s inner dialogue, both of whom are enough to make the blood run cold. Hermione Norris as the narrator, and the rest of the cast are all excellent and bring the story to life. The suspense is palpable and the pace is just right throughout. And, although the story is harrowing with the most terrifying and brutal villain, much is left to the imagination. Her eleventh novel, The Infirmary, is a prequel story to the DCI Ryan series and is available as a major Audible Originals audio-drama starring Tom Bateman, Kevin Whately, Bertie Carvel, LJ Ross is an internationally bestselling author, whose books have sold over 7 million copies worldwide. The Infirmary is an absolute belter of a read. I had so many expectations with this novel and the author went above and beyond. I really can’t recommend this series highly enough. One of the best prequels, in fact, this is the best prequel I have ever read. Brilliant! I have read all these books and the one Bamborough. They are a good read and even better on audio. Her Dr Gregory books are also an excellent read. I would like to visit Northumberland and visit all these places. Keep them coming please. Ann Richards Reply If, like me, you are a DCI Ryan fan then you will already know what this story is about. If you haven't yet met DCI Ryan and his crew then you are in for a treat as this starts the series off in the most chilling of ways.Engaging story although I’m not sure the people of Holy Island will appreciate one strand of the story ! This is one hell of an engaging story, once you start it you won't be able to stop it is utterly addictive. DCI Ryan’s North East Ever thought of retracing the footsteps of DCI Ryan and DS Phillips in the North East of England? book 11 – The infirmary is a prequel which on the book list says “Chronologically, The Infirmary is a prequel to the series and should be read first”. As I said, this is my introduction to the series, I was hooked, captivated and excited by it all. This will easily be a series I fall in love with and DCI Ryan, well is it too early to have a crush?

Louise was born in Northumberland, England. She studied undergraduate and postgraduate Law at King’s College, University of London and then abroad in Paris and Florence. She spent much of her working life in London, where she was a lawyer for a number of years until taking the decision to change career and pursue her dream to write. Now, she writes full time and lives with her husband and son in Northumberland and Edinburgh. She enjoys reading all manner of books, painting, travelling and spending time with family and friends. Maxwell Finley-Ryan, known simply as ‘Ryan’, is insightful, intelligent and compassionate—both to the living and the dead whom he is tasked to avenge. A born leader, he inspires others to be the best they can be and, more importantly, to hope for the best in others, even in the darkest of times. With an unyielding moral compass and an irreverent sense of humour, he is utterly incorruptible. Where he loves, he loves fiercely. As this series is now comprised of twelve novels, it would seem that I have a lot of enjoyable reading in store. Highly recommended to all readers who enjoy police procedurals, atmospheric settings, and just a sprinkle of romance.
