About this deal

To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and been transformed into three major motion pictures. The ultimate idea (though he recognised this was something for later generations and he would not live to see the glad day) was to murder every single Jew throughout the world, because in the very depths of his racist insanity he thought the Jews were Evil. When you argue against Him you are arguing against the very power that makes you able to argue at all: it is like cutting off the branch you are sitting on. There were parts of this book that spoke so intimately to my spirit, that I lifted my hand to praise God. The materialist, according to him, believes that everything is random and it is mere chance that everything came into existence.

So, right from the get go, he seems to ignore any plausible natural explanation for human morality and goes right for the supernatural cause for morality. So, he set two false premises, there is something out there that made the universe and that he put the Moral Law inside our hearts. I can see how someone would see it as a good book, if you already believed the premises and conclusion to begin with. If Moral Law is on par with gravity then we should not be able to ignore it, as it comes from this absolute moral law giver.

I don't know if you've ever observed animals taking care of each other and looking out for each other, but how did they come to know his “Human Nature? Every Wednesday from 7:45 pm to 8 pm during August 1941, Lewis gave live talks entitled "Right or Wrong: A Clue to the Meaning of the Universe" which would become the first book in Mere Christianity. He would go to friends' barbecues and fry steaks and chuckle to himself "if only they knew about my incest family in the basement!

S. Lewis provides an unequaled opportunity for believers and nonbelievers alike to hear a powerful, rational case for the Christian faith. Then he jettisons all of that rhetoric and logic, takes the tennets of Christianity as given fact, and proceeds to deliver a mind-numbingly naïve justification for the reasons behind the religion of the Nazarene. And probably the most important thing in his book, or in any book for that matter, is that when I put it down, I was determined to be a better person, to fix up deficiencies in my life. They did not mean, of course, that you might not find an odd individual here and there who did not know it, just as you find a few people who are colour-blind or have no ear for a tune.

Unless I missed it, he seems to give no basis for this statement, besides asserting that it is true.

If you are looking for a book that will convince you to take the leap of faith and become a Christian (like so many 1-star reviewers who said they were unconvinced) then don't waste your time. His analytical approach makes this profound spiritual message that much more powerful, because he does not seek to play on the reader’s emotional heartstrings or sentimentalities. So, he feels that this moral law is real and its bearing down on us from somewhere and that somewhere is definitely not from us.

All I am saying is that I see those evangelists around (including those in television) who speak like they are the kings of the world or they have special personal covenant with God.He also gave beautiful examples to illustrate his main points and there were many quotable quotes that you can collect from this book. e. Manichaeism) whereby the existence of evil is explained by there being two equal forces in the Universe which are in perpetual contention, the Good one and the Bad one. Lewis also explains morality as being composed of three layers: relationships between man and man, the motivations and attitudes of the man himself, and contrasting worldviews.
