About this deal

On reflection I think the 4000T/5000T hardware platform unfortunately left the developers nowhere to go as it simply lacked the horsepower required for a more modern and extensive user experience. That changes with this British-designed set-top box, which has a delicious user interface, works super-fast and is crammed with catch-up TV apps. Being a FreeviewPlay device, the T3-R has a number of TV catch-up apps that let you stream content via the internet.

But we’re told that despite the delays so far, an update that will add ITVX support is expected in April.I see no point in having channel favourites if it reverts back to the full channel list after going into standby or using the P+ button, I have deleted many unused channels to get a usable channel list. You can pause and rewind live TV, record two channels at the same time, and record an entire series at the touch of a button. Read more about the condition Opened – never used: An item in excellent, new condition with no wear.

The home-screen provides access to catch-up players, shortcuts to the TV guide, and your recordings library. Thankfully, the T3-R is smart enough to know that an episode is missing, and IF there’s another airing of that episode at a different date (AND it’s tagged correctly), the device will try to record it again. content on YouTube is the picture quality pinnacle, but good luck finding much of genuine interest there. They say that it's the best value Freeview box with recording at the moment, and that it gets all the channels they would watch on Sky.

Note, however, that once you switch to a different channel, that two hour ‘buffer’ is deleted and recording starts again – for the new channel you’re on). With 95% of the nation’s favourite programmes***, there’s no need to pay for channels you don’t watch. The same goes for the internet-based streaming shows (which we’ll touch upon in a second) – those have nothing to do with the Freeview signal, and they look excellent on the T3-R. When you do get around to using it, not sure why you have posted without doing so, let us know if it still cuts the end off outgoing programmes, rather than the start of incoming ones, in the event of an overrun, which is the reason I bought the Humax 5000 instead despite its many faults highlighted on here. Some mention that it is quicker, while others say that it will freeze when fast-forwarding a program.
